Opportunities

There is a brand new opportunity arising in the twin cities. It goes by name of Rawalpindi Ring Road. The idea was first conceived in Lahore and after its success in reducing traffic and cutting traveling time, the government is now working to implement it in Rawalpindi which will benefit the people of twin cities. This road will create new opportunities for those willing to take the risk. The plan was first conceived by the previous government of PML(N) but no real work took place. The current government has taken the initiative to turn this project into a reality. The main problem for the government is the issuance of funds. The government has invited the private sector to join the initiative. Rawalpindi Ring Road will have a Toll Tax and the money gathered from the toll will be given to the investors for the next twenty years. 

Due to this decision there has been an enormous buzz in the private sector to invest in this project. Area surrounding the ring road has gotten expensive as more societies have begun sprawling up. The land has been already acquired by the government and the map for the road has already been approved. This project will be a game changer for the twin cities as the heavy traffic will be diverted to the ring road which will help in reducing traffic on main roads around twin cities and will also help in reducing noise pollution and traveling time.

Developing Pakistan

Motorway was built in the era of Nawaz Sharif in late 90s. In the past there were no such services provided by the motorway authority but if you see in the recent past there are many construction projects going on the motorway in order to give services to the people. In the recent past lot of construction projects have been started with includes food restaurants. It is almost 6 hours’ drive from Islamabad to Lahore which is very hectic for the people before the development of motorway took place. NHA (National Highway Authority) is willing and dedicated to make the motorways more comfortable for the people travelling through it. Motorway can be considered as a gift because it has made travelling within the state very easy. Motorway has a rest area facility after every 20kms which is very beneficial for those who are travelling.

The rest areas have facilities of petrol pump, toilets, food and dispensaries. The motorway police is also very co-operative with the travelers. They are running a helpline no on which you can call and get assistance on dangerous weather and a helping unit if you are facing any problem regarding your car. Speed checking cameras are also installed at different spots on motorway by which the traffic discipline is maintained and people are also caught and fined with the help of these cameras. The regulatory authority of motorways generates funds by charging toll tax according to the distance traveled. The amount collected by fines are also used to run the daily operations of motorway police.

Green valley

Malik Riaz is one of the most famous businessman of Pakistan and is the owner of Bahria town . Bahria town is an housing society and is spread in across all major cities of Pakistan which include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi. In the past few years there is a very huge development in Rawalpindi Bahria town. As Bahria town is located in the outskirts of Rawalpindi so the people of bahria town face many problems in buying daily items. After the construction of green valley store in Bahria town phase 8 most of the problems have been solved as people of Bahria town can now easily buy daily household items under one roof. Green valley is a supermarket as most of the products in the green valley are imported which means the quality of the products is high and the consumers have no issues in paying the higher price just because of the quality and apart from the food items other items like sports, cosmetics, stationary, luggage and home decors are also available in the store.

The store also consists of a bakery section which provides fresh bakery items to its customers. The store also organizes lucky draw events for the customers to compensate them. The store sometimes offers discounts on different products which attracts the customers. The environment of Bahria town is safe for the family to go out for shopping and other activities. Bahria Town has provided the luxury living to its customers at reasonable prices. We need such ventures in Pakistan.

Karachi's sewage problem

Karachi is Pakistan's biggest city and capital of Sindh province and as such has increased importance. Karachi has a population of about 18 million people which makes it the world's third biggest city by population. To manage a city the size of Karachi requires immense planning and resources. Despites its colossus size the city must be managed effectively as it contributes about 20% of GDP to the Pakistani economy. In recent time the provincial government has always been at odds with the federal government which has led to plight of Karachi's residents falling on deaf ears. The city has grew at such a frightening rate that existing infrastructure can't keep up with it and this has resulted in sewage problems of unimaginable proportions. There is no effective plan on how to deal with sewage, there are no water treatment plants and some areas have become landfills. Due to rampant corruption and mismanagement the situation has become dire as illegal construction of homes on the path of sewage has resulted in pipes being blockaded and spilling out and causing deadly diseases such as malaria, dengue virus among other health problems. The new government of PTI has promised to reform Karachi's infrastructure and come up with a solution for its garbage problem.

The government has hired Chinese companies to pick up the waste, it has also taken action against illegal buildings that were blocking the path of sewage. The government has also announced water filtration plants to help curb the problem. Recycling plants are also being setup to combat this problem. We will have to wait and see if these steps are enough to curb the cities garbage and sewage problem but it is a step in the right direction.

KPT Towers

Kpt tower is a start to develop sky line building in Pakistan. This project will be build at Karachi port by acquiring a portion of sea surrounding the Karachi port this building copies the concept of Burj -ul- Arab the design of the building was finalized by holding a competition of different architects at national and international level. The concept of the building also motivates to follow the eco-friendly measure in construction process this project consist of four towers, the main tower consists of 80 stories consisting spaces for offices, residential apartments, five-star hotels, and port management use. The others three towers consist of residential apartments, these buildings can accommodate parking of 2500 cars these kinds of projects will play major role to enhance the tourism industry of Pakistan. This project will be completed in nearly six years and this is a semi government project the involvement of government creates a piece of mind for the investors of the project, around RS16 billion will be raised for the execution of the project. 

This project will create around 40000 jobs and around 137 industries will be linked with this project. These kinds of projects will also be made in other major cities of Pakistan like Islamabad and Lahore because these major types of projects will be play an important role to improve the economy of Pakistan by attracting the foreign direct investment.

Lahore Sialkot Motorway

The mega project of (Lahore Sialkot motorway) 91.4 kilometer was approved in May 2017 and it is expected to be accomplished in august 2019. Basically, it will be a four lane motorway which will have seven interchanges to connect surrounding ruler and urban areas, eight flyovers, forty bridges and seventy underpasses that would hel to reduce the travel distance between Lahore and Sialkot whereas now, the journey between Lahore and Sialkot will be closer to 45 minutes. It is also linked with Lahore Islamabad motorway (M-2) and grand trunk road (N-5) trough Lahore link road. The estimated cost of this four-lane motorway is nearly RS 4.38 billion and it will be completed in four sections and each section is divided into equal distance. These types of projects play an effective role in order to improve the country's infrastructure. Infrastructure plays an important role in improving the economic growth and helps to reduce the poverty and also reduces the unemployment.

Pakistan is facing huge amount of deficit in their resources but in the last few years we have seen Pakistan spend more to improve the infrastructure in the forms of roads, airports and ports to attract the foreign investors to invest in Pakistani’s projects because public capital is not enough to cover the deficit. The adequate infrastructure in the forms of roads, railways, ports and air ports etc. A good transport infrastructure increases productivity, allows information and goods to travel faster.

Telenor's New Head Office

Telenor is one of the best telecommunication company in Pakistan. Its branches are spread all over the Pakistan but in the recent time Telenor has built its new office in gulberg Islamabad. The office is called the main headquarter of Telenor and the total of 80 million dollars has been spent in this project. The office is so big that is carries almost 1200 employees. The construction of a building is designed as a modern architecture. The construction of a building covers 15 acres of land and designed in a way that is provides all the facilities to the employees. The building carries a separate gym for the employees with latest technology equipment. 

Apart from this the building carries a special library for the employees, it also has a coffee shop along with a gaming zone where employees can sit in their free time and relax. More over the office is designed in a way that it has its own water conservation system and solar energy system which means that employees will not face any problem of electricity and own water conservation system means that they can drink pure water.
